That’s a beautiful fantasy.
One problem: “Under God”
Namely, which ‘God’? And what if you don’t believe in any gods, but still believe in a ‘higher power’?
1) ‘God’ is just another name for ‘higher power’, so is ‘karma’.
2) If you believe in God then what you call him/ how you worship him is a destinction without difference. It’s all the same God. In my study of religions, except where influenced by bias, the perception of God is fairly universal, with differences only being HOW he’s perceived/ worshiped, and laws added by religious leaders.
3) I’m agnostic with atheistic tendencys, so I have problems with ‘under God’ on basic principle.
Have never before heard of ‘karma’ being equated with a ‘deity’ or even a ‘higher power’
You’ve never heard anyone point out the similarities between Fate and Karma? Fate is considered one 9f the higher powers in Greek and Roman Mythology
For those interested in how the pledge is written the way it is. One of my objections is that we have school children saying a pledge which is just words to them. We never teach the meaning and significance to them and we have them swearing an oath long before they would be allowed to enter into a binding contract. These last two things disturb me very much.
