The sound of the sword bumping the scabbard when drawn. Probably more accurately ‘shhhhhh-tink’ as it’s drawn-leaves.

The change in lighting between Panels_1_&_2 seems to support [Xav]’s “light-switch” theory.
I’d have to side with [Xav], here, also because the sound of a blade sliding out of a scabbard seems to me like the sound that a proper ninja would only make “out-of-earshot”, when she was MANY meters away. for the same reason you wouldn’t want to approach an enemy with your gun un-cocked. Such tell-tale noises might warn your enemy of approaching danger, & are NOT the sort of “gift”. that I’d want MY enemy to hear — just-in-case they might be smart-enough to pay them heed, & to then prepare for my arrival.
If it’s a false-alarm, then a cocked firearm’s trigger can be gently reset, or a sword re-sheathed.
But until then, best to investigate with cool, calm, vigilant awareness … & weapons at the ready.

I own a katana. There IS a distinct “click” noise, but you hear that when you sheath it, not draw it, when the last inch fits snugly into place and the handguard meets the scabbard.
(I’ve always liked that sound, for some reason.)

I was thinking the ‘Click’ was the light switch
X’s eyes seem to be a bit crossed in panels 2 and 3. Of course trying to focus on a sword blade that close to your face would explain it.
