Agreed, it’s not a ‘favour’ in that case, it’s a trap!
A favor done with the expectation of repayment, anyway. I have a number of things I do because I wish to make someone else’s life a little easier or better. I’m doing it not so they will owe me anything, but because it makes me feel good as well. And that is behavior I was taught was a courtesy you offer to others. It is also why I’m never bothered if there is no thanks offered back.

I think that’s exactly why she wants to say that out-loud, in order to protect herself from being “flooded” with too-many favors, from too-many people with selfish motivations.
Ace didn’t know, & thus deserves her “thanks”.
Shade DOES know, & thus wouldn’t reap the same benefit.
Still, this raises a question, which I CAN’T ask here, because it involves a “spoiler”.
