Downside is that Aoi will have to get a nurse to disconnect her from all the equipment in order to go pee. Not something I would be thrilled about, but still better than having to call for a bedpan.
When I was in, the wires all went to this bulky plug that had a quick disconnect. Matter of seconds to get disconnected and out of bed, she’d pause the monitor and there you go.
Most or all of that equipment is on wheels. She can pull it to the bathroom with her, although she might not be able to close the door fully.
Even using two gowns, one on backwards, it is still very drafty.
The problems y’all are talking about depend on the hospital. I’ve had a double-breasted (front closing) gown that was quite comfortable, with an EKG pack (battery powered transmitter) in the pocket. Even with an IV all I had to do was unplug the IV controller and drag the stand with me.
I’ve ended up in the ICU twice in the past couple of years, and both times ended up with pair of sleep pants under a back opening gown and on similar telemetry. The VA Medical Center I go to has ‘flip down toilet seats’ that auto flush as they fold back up, so that’s only a couple of steps from the bed.
Yes, it can get interesting when the IV is on the LEFT side of the bed, and the toilet is on the right!
