A 77 year old man I look after has a TV in his bedroom that is only hooked up to an analog antennae (I had not, till then, been aware they still made those. The modern ones are encased in black plastic and about the size of a iPad. I would not have known what it was if he hadn’t told me when I helped him set it up.)
Anyway… this anachronism only gets him 3 channels… really two that come in clearly. He effectively doesn’t get to choose what he watches before going to sleep; the programming varies widely day to day. I’m astounded he’s content with it.
When I was really little we lived in Placentia NL on the far East coast of Canada, and had only CBC. I remember some educational shows, Bugs Bunny, and Hockey Night In Canada. Well there was a show about plumbers, but I don’t remember the name of that one.
As a kid all we had was 3 channels over the air. Still using an antenna and can get 50 channels where I live. Now these are the 10 Primary channels and the 4 sub-channels per each. still a lot to watch when ever i get an urge to watch something.
As a kid, there were only two channels in the whole country, didn’t get a third until late ’89
Now, we have a lot more, but there are still days when there is nothing worth watching on any of them đ
Same here. I grew up with one channel, and the third one didnât come before end of the eighties.
But somehow âworth watchingâ and âavailable channelsâ correlate inversely. Streaming services donât help, either.
